"Mind Over Matter" - Worldpremiere

Mind Over Matter Celebrates Successful Premiere in Salzburg
On March 19, 2026, our documentary series Mind Over Matter celebrated its premiere at Cineplexx Salzburg – marking the conclusion of one of the most intense and personal projects we have worked on to date.
The four-part documentary series follows Austrian ski racer Max Franz on his journey after the severe training accident in Copper Mountain in November 2022 that changed his life from one moment to the next. What followed was not simply a story about returning to professional sport, but a much deeper journey shaped by recovery, uncertainty, resilience and the question of what remains when everything you have worked towards suddenly changes.
At its core, Mind Over Matter looks beyond one individual story and explores the mental and physical realities of elite sport. Throughout the series, Max’s journey is accompanied by deeply personal perspectives from some of the most remarkable names in international sport.
Skiing legends and world-class athletes including Franz Klammer, Lindsey Vonn, Daron Rahlves, Sofia Goggia, Dominik Paris, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Stephanie Venier, Stefan Brennsteiner and Hans Grugger share their own experiences of pressure, injury, recovery and the mindset required to compete at the highest level.
The series also reaches beyond alpine skiing. Motocross superstar Ken Roczen offers a particularly powerful perspective through his own extraordinary journey back from severe injuries, while Paralympic athlete Andreas Ernhofer brings another deeply personal view on resilience and adapting to life-changing circumstances.
Alongside the athletes, people closely connected to Max and his recovery – including Dr. Randall “Randy” Viola, Jürgen Mandl, Josef Tatschl, Luis Vogt and Marina Franz – provide further insight into the medical, personal and emotional dimensions behind his story.
For our team, Mind Over Matter became a project built on trust and closeness. We accompanied Max over an extended period of time, through moments of progress as well as setbacks, and were given the opportunity to tell his story with an openness that cannot be taken for granted.
Rather than looking only at the athlete, the series focuses on the person behind the performance. It explores what happens when the structures, routines and certainties of professional sport suddenly disappear – and what it takes to find a way forward.
Bringing the finished series to the big screen in Salzburg and experiencing it together with Max, our protagonists, partners, team and guests made the premiere a particularly special moment for everyone involved.
It was the culmination of a long journey behind the camera – and at the same time the moment in which a deeply personal story was shared with an audience for the first time.
Mind Over Matter was produced by SolidShot in co-production with ServusTV, with post-production in collaboration with Red Bull Media House. The four-part documentary series premiered on ServusTV on March 23, 2026.
