In November 2022, Austrian ski racer Max Franz suffered a devastating crash during training in Colorado. What followed was not just a long road back to professional sport, but a confrontation with uncertainty, setbacks and the question of how far determination can carry you. Mind over Matter follows Max through this chapter of his life – from rehabilitation and the first steps back on skis to the constant physical and mental work behind a possible return to racing. Rather than focusing solely on the comeback, the series looks at the person behind the athlete and what remains when a career, an identity and everything you have worked towards suddenly become uncertain. Across two episodes, we stay close to Max, his environment and the people around him.
